Intoto and Tarari Deliver Multi-Gigabit Intrusion Prevention Solution for Enterprise OEMs

Tarari Accelerated Intoto IntruPro Software to Foster New Breed of Enterprise-class IPS Security Appliances
NSD CONFERENCE, San Jose, Calif., October 18, 2005 – Intoto, the leading provider of integrated security, wireless and voice software platforms to networking equipment manufacturers, today announced that it has partnered with Tarari, an award-winning acceleration company, to deliver hardware-accelerated multi-gigabit intrusion prevention systems (IPS) for enterprise applications. The combined solution of Intoto’s IntruPro™ IPS software and Tarari’s content processing technology enables networking OEMs to speed product development of multi-function security appliances with enterprise-class IPS functionality.
As security threats rise in enterprise environments, OEMs require advanced content management and security solutions for security appliances. Intoto's unique patent-pending application-aware inline IPS technology, accelerated through hardware with the Tarari RegEx-CP content processor, provides wire speed performance together with greater accuracy of reduced false alarms with unprecedented speeds and performance than traditional intrusion detection and intrusion prevention approaches.
Intoto and Tarari will be demonstrating their joint solution to OEMs and ODMs at the Network Systems Design Conference in San Jose on October 19-20, 2005. These new all-in-one appliances will provide combined Firewall, network IPS, gateway AV, SSL-VPN, IPSec VPN, and VoIP functionality at enterprise-class performance levels and reliability.
“Intoto’s IntruPro software is based on stateful application engines and a combination of unique detection techniques,” said Greg Brown, director of network security at Tarari. “Integration of this technology with Tarari’s Content Processor offers multi-gigabit performance with accurate intrusion detection and minimum of false alarms.”
Tarari’s Regular Expression Content Processor, RegEX-CP, has been optimized to accelerate network intrusion prevention. It provides exact matches for up to 100,000 expressions and arbitrary length search context for greater flexibility and accuracy. The RegEx-CP’s speed and performance are independent of pattern volume or complexity, with silicon logic custom designed for regular expression processing.
“With intrusion prevention now a ‘must have’ in enterprise environments, OEMs are looking to provide a complete IPS product portfolio to end users,” said Doug Makishima, vice president of marketing at Intoto. “Tarari’s advanced Content Processor enables our IntruPro software platform to deliver a robust IPS solution with high-end enterprise performance.”
Recently awarded NSS-approval status, Intoto’s IntruPro includes a sophisticated management platform, signature updates and system certification. Employing stateful application engines and a combination of advanced detection techniques, its technology enables highly accurate intrusion detection with minimum of false alarms. In addition to its signature-based detection, protocol anomaly and traffic anomaly, IntruPro also provides a learning mode feature that creates a profile for all traffic connections.
