Intoto to Demonstrate Secure VoIP XML (VXML) Gateway Technology for SMB and SME Applications

New Software Platform Integrates Secure Router and Virtual IP PBX Gateway Applications
VON 2006 CONFERENCE, March 15, 2006 — Intoto, a leading provider of integrated security, wireless and voice software platforms to networking and telecom equipment manufacturers, today announced new VXML gateway software technology for Small-to-Medium Business (SMB) and Small-to-Medium Enterprise (SME) virtual IP PBX applications. The company will showcase its iGateway security and VoIP platform software technologies, running on Intel® IXP4XX network processors, at the VON 2006 Spring Conference this week at Intoto’s booth #438.
Intoto’s new secure VXML software platform allows OEMs to deliver converged business gateways with secure routing, secure SIP-based VoIP, and IP PBX functionality in a single box.
It includes voice XML-based applications, such as auto-attendant, voicemail, and multi-party conferencing. The solution does not require external servers for these voice applications, resulting in a cost-effective embedded virtual IP PBX gateway solution for equipment vendors. The platform also offers the most complete VoIP security features to protect both SIP and media packets in a variety of deployment scenarios, including client-to-client, branch-to-branch, hub-and-spoke, and service provider provisioned.
“As VoIP services continue to evolve and deployment numbers increase, Intoto is well-positioned to address OEM needs by leveraging its deep technical expertise in VoIP applications and security,” said Doug Makishima, vice president of marketing at Intoto. “The addition of VXML technology enables us to offer full-featured IP PBX functionality with integrated VoIP gateway, routing and full-featured network security. This advanced technology enables our OEM customers to quickly bring to market products that successfully tackle the convergence of voice and security over IP networks.”
Intoto’s advanced VXML software platform technology includes a complete SIP-based VoIP gateway, proxy, registrar, SIP boarder gateway functionality, VoIP security, firewall, IPsec VPN, QoS/Traffic Management, NAT, IP routing functionality and WLAN, and integrated VXML interpreter, Web server and VXML application framework. It leverages Intoto’s software components that meet stringent carrier-grade gateway device criteria, including interoperability and conformance with soft switch infrastructure, provisioning services and certifications for firewall, IPsec, uPnP, and WiFi.
Additionally, the new VXML-based platform will be demonstrated on the Intel Taylor’s Beach reference platform which is an integrated converged application platform that combines the Intel IXP-465 network processor, Intel Pentium-M processor and analog SLICs for FXS and FXO ports.
Technical Information
Intoto’s software platform provides fully interoperable SIP-based VoIP Gateway, firewall, VPNC-certified IPsec VPN, IP routing, wireless LAN, secure AP and LAN/WAN access functionality. The VoIP Gateway includes extensive services delivered via Intoto’s patent-pending call processor. The solution provides standards-based DiffServ QoS traffic management with custom traffic shaping methods to ensure PSTN voice quality.
The platform supports four FXS ports, one FXO port for PSTN failover, and proxy and firewall traversal for SIP end-points in the LAN and WAN. It enables peer-to-peer communication based on presence and access to VXML applications and access to external SIP servers.
Intoto’s iGateway software platforms have been optimized for the Intel IXP425 and IXP465 network processors. The IXP425/465 network processors are supported by a powerful DSP software library that runs on a high performance Intel XScale® core for processing algorithms such as G.711, G.726, G.729, G.722 and G.723.1 with very low power consumption. In addition, built-in network processing engines (NPEs) provide excellent bi-directional data throughputs without consuming processor MIPS.
The host software includes VXML application framework: Web server, database server, configuration database and web interface. Some of the services in the host platform include: auto attendant, voicemail, multi-party conference bridge and locate me. Intoto also includes dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) detection and optional support for MRCP clients, such as automated speech recognition (ASR) and text-to-speech (TTS). The platform also provides framework to develop custom applications.
